Biography
Sherry Merkur is a Research Fellow at the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies, based at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). With more than two decades of experience in health policy research, she specializes in comparative health systems and policy analysis, with particular interests in the evolving role of hospitals, person‑centred care, health promotion & disease prevention, and pharmaceutical pricing & reimbursement.
She serves as Editor‑in‑Chief of Eurohealth, the Observatory’s journal, and plays an active role in its wider knowledge‑brokering work. As a member of the Observatory’s management team, she contributes to strategic direction and governance. Sherry leads analytical work for Observatory books and policy briefs, oversees externally funded research projects, and edits both Health System Reviews (HiTs) and Country Health Profiles for the State of Health in the EU programme. Her recent country-focused work spans Belgium, Canada, Israel, Malta, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
